Workshop – Canadian 100ton Cylindrical Grain Hopper

For quite some time I wante to enlarge my fleet of grain hoppers with these iconic Canadian rail cars, but dang, the better ones like the InterMountain cars are expensive here. And the old Bachman Silver Series cars are now Walthers Mainline – I think – and are equally expensive with only minor upgrades. So I have one InterMountain car and four or five of the old Bachman cars and need at least another six cars. Why not try to 3D print a few, until my budget allows for a dozen new Intermountain Cars? That will be the focus of this article. A preliminary rendering of the car I’m talking about can be seen below. More on the project follows as time progresses.
